Here is a quick sneak peak of a little girl who just turned one! She is such a cutie, and I really loved having the opportunity to shoot inside a nice warm greenhouse at her parents' farm, even though it was actually pretty chilly outside. How cool is it to have a warm and flowery location available in the middle of March? I will post more when I get them finished, but for now here are a few favs:
Her cousin was along to help, and even though she wasn't there to be in the pics, I happened to grab this sweet moment of them after the little one walked to her:

The Joy of a Warm Day
During February we had an unexpectedly warm day, during which most of the remaining snow melted and turned our long sidewalk into a lake. Not one to let such an opportunity slip by, I put the girls in their rain gear and sent them out to get wet. :) They had so much fun! They went through five pairs of play pants between the two of them--they would get cold, I'd bring them in and put dry ones on them and send them back out. My younger daughter could have run up and down that sidewalk all day, so she went back out several times. My older one is having a little trouble letting go of winter; hence the big, thick mittens! LOL
They were using their play shovels to push the water along in front of them
Apparently tired of getting wet, my oldest retreated to the swingset (the remains of their last snowfort melting around it), and I was able to get her attention and capture this gem:
Fun with photographing water...this one focuses on her reflection in the water...
...and this one on the splashing!

Outside Again!
It's so nice to be able to be outside again--I mean, without being stuffed inside big winter coats, gloves and boots! I had almost forgotten how much I enjoy shooting outdoors...I did of course take the camera outside a bit during the winter, but winter lighting and snow on the ground is a whole different ball game. I took my girls out today because it was so nice out, and photographed them in a few of their outfits that will soon be put away with the rest of their winter clothing. They were willing participants, though there were complaints of the wind being too cold, the shed being "scary", and the sun being in eyes. Still, I got a lot out of them in that 15 minutes, and because I was so thrilled to be shooting outside in springy weather again, I (*shock*) have half of them done already! So, here is what I got of my older daughter. Pardon the identical expression in all of them--those of you who know her know that that's just her. She is also the one to give me the least amount of lens time...when she says "one more shot", that means I only get one more shot, and she is done. So, doing her four-year pictures should be interesting!
...and I couldn't resist trying a periwinkle effect on this one!
Hopefully I'll have my younger daughter's done tomorrow and posted before the weekend!

Nifty 50s Sunday
Here are the long-awaited pics! These are from our church's 50's-themed service we had recently. The girls were so cute in their poodle skirts (made by their grandma)! I brought along my camera to get some pics, but only had about ten minutes before the start of service, so there aren't very many.
Here are the girls at home before we left for church. I put them next to their little retro kitchen toy because I thought it was fitting. :)
Here they are sitting at the soda counter set up on the platform at church:
And one of me with them, taken by a friend...I ended up winning a prize for "best costume". Woohoo! :) (pardon the preggo belly in this pic...it looks a little odd, but I was pretty proud of myself for finding something 50's-ish that I could actually wear!)
My nephew in his bomber jacket...
...and my friend's kid in his. Yeah, eye contact was just not happening today! LOL
My little one was totally willing to ham it up for the camera, though!
The kids looked so cute we decided to try to get one of them together quick...but they were less than cooperative. My older one was clearly not in the mood for pictures, so this was as close as she would sit with the others:
I had my younger daughter move over so they would look like more of a cohesive group, but my older one then absolutely refused to quit messing with her shoe, and then one of the boys started crying, sooo....it was all downhill from there. Haha...honestly this one is my absolute favorite because it's so realistic!
