Another Little One

This little cutie is cousin to the last tiny newborn I did a session for. In typical baby fashion, she was in a great mood until I got the camera out. :) This was the day she decided she must have a pacifier in her mouth at all times, even though for her entire three weeks of life thus far she had not felt the need to have one. It was a surprise to her parents, and quite comical! But we enjoyed the time with her and she still let me get plenty of great shots. Here are some favorites (lots of black and white):

...there's that pacifier! hehe

Little Tiny Baby

I got a chance to photograph another newborn recently, and since I think newborns are so beautiful and sweet, I have quite a few favorites to share! :)

This little doll weighed only just over 6 lb., so spending time with her made me feel very sentimental, as my own baby girl was that small too when she was born. Of course mine is now a 23-lb. tromping-around, singing, messy toddler--amazing how fast they grow, isn't it??

You probably can't tell from the photos, but the poor baby wasn't feeling very well that day. I'm happy to report she is better now and last time I saw her she had even grown a little already!

tiny, tiny toes!

Her daddy is a farmer, and I love the contrast of daddy's hard-working hands with the softness of his newborn daughter.

Newborns

Newborns are currently my favorite subject to photograph! They are always sleeping (well, except at night when they are supposed to!), don't run away, are easy to pose, fit in all sorts of cute little props, and you can photograph them pretty much anywhere without having to worry about what's in the background. Of course, they do tend to piddle on things during naked baby shots, and I have heard horror stories of babies who refused to sleep during an entire three-hour-session (!!), but my last newborn session went really well, and he slept right up until the end when he got hungry. For all my moving him around, he would occasionally open an eye to peek at me, then back to sleep he would go! So much easier than a toddler, that's for sure! :) He was so easy to work with that I tried pretty much everything I could think of and took about a million pics! Here are a few (okay, a lot!), as promised:
